Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how ToolBharat (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data of users of our website and services. We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and applicable Indian law.

1. Data we collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to operate ToolBharat:

  • Account data — email, name (optional), password hash.
  • Usage data — anonymized event logs (tool used, timestamp, aggregate performance metrics).
  • Files — files you upload for processing. See “File retention” below.
  • Technical data — a hashed representation of your IP address for rate limiting; browser user-agent for security.

2. How we use data

  • Deliver the tool you request.
  • Prevent abuse and enforce rate limits.
  • Bill you (Pro / Team plans only).
  • Send transactional email — verification, reset, receipts.
  • Product analytics in aggregate — never sold to third parties.

3. File retention

Files uploaded for anonymous use are auto-deleted within one hour. Files uploaded by authenticated users are retained only for the plan-specified duration (Free: 24 hours; Pro: 30 days; Team: 90 days). Deletion is enforced by scheduled jobs on our storage layer.

4. Data localization

All data is stored on servers in India. Backups are encrypted and stored in Indian data centres. We do not transfer personal data outside India without explicit consent.

5. Your rights under DPDP

  • Access — export all data we hold on you.
  • Correction — update inaccurate data via your Profile.
  • Erasure — delete your account and associated data.
  • Grievance — contact our Data Protection Officer at dpo@toolbharat.com.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use privacy-first analytics (Plausible). No cross-site tracking cookies. No third-party ad networks on tool pages. Essential cookies are used only for session management.

7. Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Passwords are hashed with argon2id. Access to production systems is limited and audited.

8. Children

ToolBharat is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors without parental consent.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes are announced by email to registered users at least 14 days before taking effect.
